The Co-op. It doesn't have to be just a grocery store full of hippies.
The Basque Countrys Mondragón Corporation is the globes largest industrial co-operative, with workers paying for the right to share in its profits and its losses. In return for giving more to their employer, they expect more back
When Marisa Fernández lost her husband to cancer a few years ago, her employers at the Eroski hypermarket went, she says, above and beyond to help me through the dark days afterwards, rejigging my timetable and giving me time off when I couldnt face coming in.
She had a chance to return the favour recently when the store, in Arrasate-Mondragón in Spains Basque Country, was undergoing renovations. Fernández, 58, who started on the cashier desk 34 years ago, and now manages the stores non-food section, volunteered to work extra shifts over the weekend along with her colleagues to ensure everything was ready for Monday morning. Its not just me. Everyone is ready to go the extra mile, she says.
Such harmonious employer-worker relations are the stuff of corporate dreams, and they are no accident here: the Eroski retail chain is part of Mondragón Corporation, the largest industrial co-op in the world. As a fully signed-up member, Fernández co-owns part of the supermarket chain that also employs her. It feels like mine, she says. We work hard, but its a totally different feeling from working for someone else.

Scary info
From the Kareem newsletter. trump is teh most trusted news source for Republicans about the Ukrain war...
How do you reach these people with the truth?
This Week in Trump-Induced Insanity
Trump Shockingly Finishes First In New Poll And It's Not About The Election (HuffPost)
Nearly 80% of Republicans take the criminally indicted former president at his word on the conflict.
Meanwhile, 60% of Republicans trust the Pentagon, putting the military source a little ahead of Fox News and other conservative media, which came in at 56%. A mere 33% trusted journalists reporting from the war zone, while 27% put faith in the State Department.
MY TAKE: This might seem like a throwaway article thats worth a head shake and nothing more. But its far more dangerous than that and to dismiss it lightly is a mistake. Almost 80% of Republicans use Trump as their most reliable source for information about a war hes repeatedly given misinformation about. Hes also proven himself to be a servant to Putin, despite Putin being a dictator, a murderer, and a braggart about interfering with U.S. elections. The fall of Ukraine has the potential to pull the U.S. into a ground war that will cost us lives as well as much more money, yet, the Republicans seem eager to do Putins bidding.
This is proof that the GOPs constant berating of legitimate news outlets to create mistrust of facts has had a detrimental effect on the country. We should have taught our children how to seek out unbiased information to make rational decisions. Instead, weve ended up with self-serving news that makes it easier for people not to have to think but just react. Forming opinions isnt supposed to be easy or instantaneous. It should require reading, researching, thinking, and arguing. But in a culture that rushes to embrace AI over putting in their own effort, the only intelligence well have left is artificial.
Going to Trump for reliable information is like getting all your food from a toxic waste dump thinking the toxic chemicals made the food more nutritious.
